How is it October already?
or: this past year has felt like a fever dream
It’s wild to think how much has happened over the past year. Around this time in 2024 I was just starting to wean off my eye patch and meds. Just starting to feel at home in my body again.
Then came my car accident.
A month and a half later, I sold all my belongings and moved across the ocean back to Puerto Rico.
Since moving I’ve said goodbye (physically) to my spouse, said goodbye (permanently) to one of my dogs, released a book to mixed reviews, and honestly just done my best to stay afloat. I still haven’t found my piece of land in the mountains. And I still feel like I’m wandering around in the dark. But what I can say is that this past year has brought new friends into my life and for that I will be forever grateful.
Here for all the craft dates and buddy reads. Love y’all.
xoxo, Andrea
No Place On Earth (MG): I’ve seen the cover (it’s gorgeous!) and what the interior will look like (also gorgeous!) I should be able to do a cover reveal in a few months and I can’t wait for you all to see it.
Survivor Book (MG) : I’m working on a proposal for this one right now (50 pages + an outline) and let me tell you— researching the very real place this will happen in has been an interesting experience, for sure. (It’s illegal to go in person, so I am dependent on other sources.) Fingers crossed my publisher wants it!
I’m behind on book posts because I’ve taken several social media breaks, so here’s a list of recent favorites! All were 10/10.
Silenced Voices: Reclaiming Memories from the Guatemalan Genocide (YA Graphic)
Behooved (Adult Romance)
The Many Misfortunes of Eugenia Wang (MG Graphic)
I got to go to the National Book Festival last month and met so many lovely people! Always grateful for these invitations for a myriad of reasons, but I must confess I met John Green while there and still haven’t recovered, haha.
I was featured in my local paper! ON THE COVER. It’s in Spanish and behind a paywall, but you can find the article here.
Survivor is back! It is the least “survival-y” of the survival shows I watch, but it still brings me joy. Especially now that I’m writing my own survival book 👀. (BTW— my absolute favorite survival show is the history channel’s Alone, in case you were wondering.)
Finally, me and the pup are gonna go see the long-distance spouse this month! Looking forward to spending time together, but ALSO to being in colder (actually autumn) weather and drinking/eating all the fall-themed treats. P.S. Indi turned 15 last week and celebrated like the KING he is. ¡¡¡¡¡¡Miren que preciosura!!!!!!!
Thanks for reading, Friends! See you next month 💜,
